You wander through the shadows, wondering if there will ever be salvation, if you will ever feel the cool wind against your skin once more. There appears to be an opening ahead, a welcome relief after the tight corridors and tunnels before. \n\n[[Go Forward]]
You turn around to stab the Medusataur, and get your head taken clean off. Your still conscious head hits the floor. It's cold. So cold. Your journey is at an end.
You cast a shield about your body, and dive into the demon's open stomach of teeth and tentacles. He makes several grunting noises, sounding extremely confused. He attempts to chomp into your flesh with the teeth in his stomach, but your shield protects you. \n\nLighting up your hand with a fireball, you set his innards on fire. He begins making a low, gutteral scream, garbled with you still in his mouth. Making sure you don’t breathe in the smoke, you climb out. The demon's skin begins to glow bright red, the fire rendering his fat. His screams stop as what’s left of his respiratory system dissolves. You gather the fallen blades in front of you using telekinesis. “DIEEEEEE!” you scream. The swarm of blades is sent forwards with more force than intended; you should scream every time you attack something! Some of the blades hit their mark and stick the beast in it’s gut and chest. You step through the door into a dark tunnel. The disgusting smell of rotting flesh protrudes from the other end. You walk forward slowly and carefully. A large swarm of bats fly at your face, startled by your presence. You fall backwards, startled and scared.\n\n[[Pick Yourself Up]]
You cast a spell to make the pieces of the mirror one whole, and turn around with the mirror in front of your face, hoping this actually works. “Ice to meet you”, you say with a gritty voice as you direct two beams of ice at the beast’s feet. The ice quickly melts from the excessive heat in the colosseum. You wonder to yourself, “Why did I think this would work? I'm in a desert!”. The beast turns towards you and takes long lunging steps in your direction, knocking you off the ruin with its charge.\n\n[[Fall]]
You head back.\n\n[[Enter Tunnels|Juncture 3]]
You keep on climbing, and run into Satan. “You brought this on yourself, stupid” he says, as he impales you on his pitchfork and, with a flourish, throws you over the bannister. You keep falling and falling for all eternity, never reaching the bottom. Why didn’t you take the hint and go back? Why? WHY!?
You keep on climbing, and count out another three hundred steps. You look over the bannister again. You seem like you are no higher up. Sprawled on the steps is a dry skeleton with a piece of paper and quill in its hands. You pick up the piece of paper and begin to read the contents. “This staircase seems like it goes on forever. Why didn’t I go back? Why, oh why, didn’t I go back?”\n\n[[Keep Climbing|Keep Climbing 2]]\n[[Go Back |Endless Staircase]]

You bolt away from the demon and head back to the small indent in the wall where you fell from; however, the tunnel is much too high. The tumor is still there, extruding from the ground. You attempt to use it as a trampoline, but you can’t reach any grippable surface to begin an ascent.\n\nThe monster comes up behind you, and you feel a sharp pain in your back. You turn to see his knife covered in your blood. With nowhere to run, you collapse to the ground, and he scoops you into his mouth. Your journey is at an end.

You look at your reflection in the lake to find that your eyes now seem to billow with flames. Out of your hair sprouts two massive, coiling horns. Your humanity has been stripped. It would seem that you are now a demon.\n\nYou go to the village, and the villagers start rallying to stop you. As they proceed down the main road towards you, you cast a fireball from your hand towards them. The fireball is larger and hotter than any you have ever cast before. Is this the power that the demons’ blood has bestowed upon you? The villagers hit by the fireball turn to ash instantly, and those near them are badly burned. They begin to flee. As you chase after them, you notice the mayor, who has been trampled by the fleeing villagers. “No, no, please! Have mercy!” You plunge a taloned hand into his chest, lifting him into the air. He screams in pain as you lean in close to his face and say, “go to hell”. You cast ice beam from the hand holding him up, and he is launched into the air by the force of it. You dart backwards to what you think is a safe distance behind a boulder. The urchin creature rises from the ground on two massive legs. Having unearthed itself, the great beast actually looks more like a tyrannosaurus covered in spikes. It shakes off the sand and rocks from its body and roars a mighty roar which sounds to you like the screams of the damned. After a quick scan of the area, the two of you make eye contact. Your death, as it turns out, is not quick. The spider’s venom is necrotic, and it isn’t so much hungry as it is malicious. It bites you in the shoulder, walks away, and watches you squirm about in pain as your skin slowly turns a sludgy black color from the shoulder outwards. As it reaches your throat, you feel your airway tighten, and you start convulsing. You wonder what made you think that praying would work. You are in Hell after all. Regardless, your journey has come to a sad, gruesome end.
You examine all of the walls, but there is no clear way out, except for where you came from. Looks like you’re going to have to fight. You turn around to see that the spider is walking about the room again.\n\n[[Keep Fighting]]

You enter the most unnerving chamber yet, and that’s saying something. The wall of this large circular room is covered in living, breathing faces in rows and columns all talking and yelling at each other or just to themselves. They don’t take notice of your presence. At the far end of the room is the large face of an old decrepit man, whose height reaches all the way to the ceiling.\n\n<<if $bossesKilled lte 2>>He’s the only one not talking, just giving the whole room a blank stare. \n[[Turn around|Juncture 7]]<<elseif $bossesKilled is 3>>\nThe large old man’s mouth is wide open as if he’s stuck mid-yawn. You call, “hey, you dropped something!” Using telekinesis to pick up the fallen spikes, you send them flying back towards the beast’s face. You leave the village as it burns behind you. The mayor’s screams as you plunged the knife into his stomach were as much music to your ears as the crackling of the fire behind you is right now. Hopefully the next village isn’t foolish enough to cross you.
You pass through the now-open giant door, and as you pass the threshold, it slams shut behind you. You push against it, but it won’t budge. You venture further into the room. The walls have the same fleshy quality as the antechamber, and are coated with spiderwebs. You hear a clacking sound above you, and look up along the walls to the ceiling, where a gigantic spider is pedaling along a thread of webbing towards the ground. It touches down and rears, its chelicerae, forelegs, and pedipalps wavering at you. Its abdomen is an eerie, flesh-colored membrane of wailing human faces. You slowly trudge through the confines of this rocky tunnel. Rats scurry past in a frantic escape, scratching and clawing their way through. The closer you get to the opening, the more clearly you hear the sounds of crying and moaning. You fear the worst, but such a sound is not uncommon here; one begins to wonder if they are beginning to go mad, or if all of the horrors are truly real.\n\n[[Pull Through Cracks in the Rocks]]

The spider, having only three legs left, is incapable of walking about anymore. It collapses, hissing on the fleshy ground. You draw your knife. With a snap of your fingers, a flame appears over your hand. You heat the blade with the flame as you walk up to the spider, place a boot on its head, and drive the knife into its carapace with all of your strength. The faces on the abdomen start screaming, and the spider’s remaining legs thrash about, but after a few moments, the thrashing ends and the spider rattles out its last breath. Picking up a pebble, you take a step back and hurl it at the sea urchin with as much strength as your sleight frame can muster. It bounces off, and pelts you right in the face. You feel embarrassed. From the base of the spiked mass opens two dinner-plate-sized eyes.\n\n[[Begin Fight]]
You decide against going further into the colosseum because, really, how could this be a good idea. The doors start to close slowly. You start running towards them, but they close even faster. You reach the doors just as they slam shut. The noise is so loud, it stirs dust from all the ledges of the colosseum. The echoes fade and you hear a low rumble coming from the center of the arena.\n\n[[Investigate the Structure]]
As you jab at the eye of one of the faces with your forefinger, the face stops wailing and says, “OW! Jesus, what the hell!?” Other nearby faces come to its support: “That’s rude, man!”; “What’s wrong with you?”; “Just poking us in the face, huh? That’s nice.” This does nothing to affect the spider itself, it would seem, but at least you hurt SOMETHING. The spider gets up and starts walking around again.\n\n[[Keep Fighting]]\n
While you’re still alone, you begin to look for an exit. Whatever caused the screaming will likely be by soon. Wandering around, you notice that the ceilings in this chamber are extremely high, making vertical escape impossible. The tunnel you came through is out of reach. You step around a dinner table next to the throne, covered with various human organs. \n\n“Fwesh… meeeat?”\n\nYou turn your head in the direction of the distorted voice to face a gluttonous, humanoid monstrosity only a few meters away. The creature’s blue skin provides a stark contrast with the red blood and gore all around him, making you wonder, “how in the hell did I not see him come in? Did he just come in from the room in the back so quickly?” His stomach is a gaping hole large enough to fit in, with teeth and tentacles extruding all over. The creature is dressed in ragged cloth, the remains of what looks like an ancient crown, corroded beyond belief, standing proud atop grotesque head.\n\n“So how do I leave this place?"\n\n“Leeave…? You look the mayor dead in the eyes, and say, “it’ll be you screaming, when you wake up with a knife in your gut!” The mayor punches you in the stomach, and you are winded from the blow. It appears to be the remnants of a throne room in a castle, but everything - the ground, the pillars, and the furniture - are encased with human flesh and tissue. You glance at the makeshift throne in front of you, a compilation of various bones and meat. As you take several steps into this chamber of horrors, you faintly hear screaming and shrieking from the back.\n\n[[Look For an Exit]]
You look around and see what appears to be a train station manned by skeletons herding the masses to their doom. There appears to be no way down from here. You should go back the way you came.\n\n[[Go Back Into the Tunnels]]\n[[Try To Scale the Plateau Anyways]]
Using a spear conveniently found nearby, you poke past the long thin spikes to try and get at the center of the mass. The spear isn’t quite long enough, and your arm grazes a spike and starts bleeding. The blood runs down your arm to your elbow and drips onto the giant sea urchin. The urchin grumbles, and a dinner-plate-sized eye opens to stare right at you.\n\n[[Begin Fight]]
“Where… where am I?”, you think to yourself. You bite your tongue - still hurts, not dreaming. After being burned, you recall watching your body entering a spiral of darkness. So that means…\n\nYou look around - you’re in a dark enclosed prison cell, with a rusted, barred metal door. Suddenly, a demonic voice starts to speak to you in your head. “If you want revenge on those who killed you, drink the blood of demons.” The voice echoes for a few moments, and fades away. "The mayor." You clench your teeth in anger. "Boy, wouldn’t it be nice to fry him." If there's a way out of here, you're going to find it, but perhaps drinking the blood of some demons along the way couldn't hurt.\n\nTime to get out of this prison cell. You conjure a fireball, and blast the weak metal door right off the hinges.\n\n[[Head Out of the Cell|Juncture 1]]\n
You blast a ball of fire from your hand at the spider, but its carapace doesn’t seem to take any damage. The spider scrambles back up and starts walking around again.\n\n[[Keep Fighting]]
You hock up a big ball of phlegm and saliva, and launch it directly into his left eye. “EUGH!”, he exclaims, and sweeps the yellowish-green goop out of his eye. He looks back at you angrily, and delivers a massive backhand to your right cheek. The world spins for a few moments while you gather your bearings. You lift your chin defiantly at the mayor, who leans in close again, this time keeping the torch between you and him. “Go to hell, witch.”\n\n[[Continue|Mayor]]
The mayor backs away, throwing the torch onto the hay. The rest of the villagers start doing the same with their torches. The flames lick up to your feet, and you feel them start to blister and tighten from the heat. In spite of the pain, you try not to scream, but as the flames reach your calves, you can no longer contain yourself. For what feels like an eternity, you scream and writhe against the flames, and as you pass out, you hear one of the villagers talking loudly. “With our torches gone I can’t even see! How are we supposed to get back home?”\n\n[[Continue|Hell]]\n\n
All of a sudden you hear a soft rumbling sound, growing stronger and stronger. Your skin begins to drip with sweat as the temperature rises. You see what appears to be a flame brewing in the depths of the void. Suddenly, the pit fills with flames and the sound of screams and moans as the spirits of thousands of tortured souls echo throughout the room. This appears to be an endless pit of torture and loss. To continue forth would be a grave mistake, rewarded with nothing but pain and death.\n\n[[Go Back Into the Caves]]\n[[Attempt To Cross the Pit]]
